Capital Ship

What is defined as a capital ship is typically a vessel which is large enough not to fit neatly into other categories of smaller vessels, as well as carrying substantial armaments and being relatively tough to destroy. However, there is a wide range of ships that may be classed as a capital ship, ranging from the light cruisers and corvettes, to the star destroyers and dreadnoughts of galactic navies.

It is hard to come up with distinct categories, so the tables below are set by the silhouette of the vessel, and the tables will really only compare the ships based on weaponry, price, rarity and crew complement. Almost all of these are restricted purchases and most players will only encounter them as assignments.

Corvettes (Silhouette 5)[]

In this size category we have a number of ships known as corvettes and light cruisers. They typically serve the role of anti-fighter platforms or as transports for diplomatic groups and small combat units.

Frigates (Silhouette 6)[]

The frigate, and a number of light cruisers, are used as naval screens. They perform as support vessels alongside a fleet and can often carry more weaponry than one would expect on this small frame.
