The YT-1200 was designed to be a successor to the YT-1000 by the same producer, but not in a way that the vessel would simply be a good build. Instead, design was based off market feedback from the previous model and the entire design was based on its predecessor. Multiple refits and redesigns were eventually released of this vessel as it simply did not acquire as much of the market as expected.
